Home vacations, ääh…. Furlough

We have been in Switzerland since mid-October and are enjoying the good food, speaking Swiss German, our friends, family and the rain.

Home Vacations / Furlough?

Both. But above all a furlough. There’s still laundry to do, conflicts with and between the children, homeschooling and a lot of work on top of that. But first to our trip to Switzerland.

Trip to Switzerland

In mid-September, we packed our things, handed over the keys, the house and our cats to our work colleagues and set off for Croatia. We camped on the beach there for a week with two family friends. On the island of Krk, we were able to enjoy the sea and really relax after the “stress of saying goodbye” and before the “stress of going home”.

The children were delighted to finally play with their friends in Swiss German again. We then went on holiday as a family for a week in Italy. We visited Venice, Verona and the absolute highlight for the children: the Garda Park!

In Switzerland

Finally in Switzerland, Anna went straight to the Adonia camp for a week. She has been interested in music for a long time, but she is not yet able to sing in Romanian.

In general, we immediately embarked on a really full programme. We take the opportunity to do all the medical checks. There are also follow-up appointments, for example. holes in teeth still need to be mended.

The car also had to go to the doctor (mechanic) and unfortunately needed a few major repairs. We weren’t surprised, we knew something was wrong and in Hungary on the motorway the car suddenly decided it needed a break for an hour. But the bill was much higher than expected. Well then, as the car belongs to our family, we didn’t put it to sleep, but had it lovingly nursed back to health.

In addition to the doctors and mechanics, we naturally also want to see our families and friends again. We were really looking forward to it. As we don’t have our own flat, we always stay with other friends or with my (Silvia’s) family. On the one hand, this is great because we have a lot of time to chat and the children have time to play together. And we are really spoilt with culinary delights.

The downside is that we’re always sitting on the sofa with someone and hardly have any time to ourselves. We are still working on a concept in the background and the children have to go to school (homeschooling). This is sometimes really challenging, as we want to do something with our friends or meet family at the same time, but also have our commitments.

But the positives clearly outweigh the negatives so far. The children cope well with the adventure and all in all we really enjoy our time in Switzerland. It’s so nice to finally see you all again and give you a big hug.

Our work is made possible by supporters like you.

Finally, a brief overview of where we have already been. I hope I’m not forgetting anyone, otherwise: “îmi pare rău!”.

Thierachern (BE), Schwanden (BE), Bern (BE), Hochdorf (LU), Lucerne (LU), Sursee (LU), Corgemont (JU), Germany (everywhere), Dickbuch (ZH), Effretikon (ZH), Schwaderloch (AG), Root (LU)

We would also like to take this opportunity to say a big “Thank you!” to everyone who helped us write our concept. We were able to gain so many exciting insights during these two months.

We’d love to tell you more about it at this point, but it’s not quite ready yet… You’ll have to be patient a little longer.

To be continued…
